What can we say? It is obvious to everyone who keeps up with the news in Nebraska that Hispanics continue to pour into our state. And in some places we are seeing significant numbers of immigrants from other nations, cultures, and language groups as well.

Some are quite upset with the state of immigration to our country, both legal and illegal. And while there may be reasons for this in the natural, we are called to look beyond the natural and into the heart of God.

If we believe that God works through kings and presidents, we must conclude that God is allowing this phenomenon to occur in our land. And why is that? To give us the opportunity to do cutting-edge mission work right here in our own backyard.

I urge you to join with us in seeing every immigrant who arrives in Nebraska as someone God has allowed to come here and as someone who needs to know Jesus Christ as Savior! And in that light, we ask that every church in Nebraska take steps to include Hispanic Ministries in your missions plan.

Current plans for ministry to reach Hispanics in Nebraska:

Planning a new Spanish-speaking church in Omaha for 2004-2005.

A Brazilian outreach in Omaha through Rios de Alabanza and our Brazilian pastor, Obed Oliveira.

Preparing for our Spanish-speaking radio station, which only awaits the granting of new licenses for FM stations. The first station is planned for Grand Island, to be followed by translators in areas where most if not all Hispanics in Nebraska will be reached.

Working together with Grace College to offer pastoral education, which could include acceptance of our Berean courses in some cases.

Our churches are growing in number and spiritually. We are beginning to see the emergence of leaders of the kind able to move into ministry in surrounding areas. Some churches have begun using the Berean courses for this training.

We ask that when you see an immigrant in your community or in the news, that you please pray for God to help us lead the way in reaching all immigrants to Nebraska for Christ.

Gracias! ¡Qué Dios les bendiga ricamente...!
