A
ministry designed to facilitate our students to more effectively
reach the junior and senior high school campuses.
WHO
is a Campus Missionary?
A CMer is a sixth through twelfth grade student who has decided
to "take a stand" as a missionary to his/her campus
neighborhood. Home school student's campus begins at their front
door.
What
are the requirements to become a CMer?
A
students
life
must reflect Christ and desire to see his/her friends in heaven.
Each student must submit a CM Profile with their pastor's recommendation
to be accepted.
What
about Home School & Christian School Students?
Home
school students and Christian school students have the same opportunity
to be a CMer. The methods of reaching their campus alters slightly.
As stated earlier, the Home School campus begins at the front door.
The Christian School student's campus is still at the school, for
not all students who attend are Christian. In both cases, their
neighborhoods also represent a mission field.
Who
are the CM's accountable to?
CM's
are accountable first to their local church and second to Nebraska
Youth Ministries (NYM). CMer's submit a monthly
written report which is read and initialed by the local
youth pastor/leader and then sent to the NYM Head Quarters.
What
Do CMer's Do?
A
Campus Missionary Commits To:
(1)
PRAY - make a list of specific prayer items (i.e. Principles, teachers,
friends, family, etc.) and pray daily.
(2)
LIVE - reflect Christ's life to your community and grow in godly
habits that strengthen your relationship with him.
(3)
TELL - prayerfully develop a list of unsaved friends and/or acquaintances.
Pray for them daily and seek opportunities to share the Gospel (good
news) with them.
(4)
SERVE - develop a ministry of service to your school and neighborhood.
Participate in a vibrant campus ministry or start one via Youth
Alive.
(5)
GIVE - cultivate a spirit of generosity, both in your finances and
time to support your local church and mission's ministries. Every
CMer is expected to give a minimum of $100 to Speed the Light.
(6)
RESPOND - each month send in a monthly report (which is provided
to the CM) and a SHORT written letter of personal and spiritual
condition. THIS NEEDS TO FIRST GO TO YOUR LOCAL YOUTH LEADER.
What
is the term of service for the CMer?
A CMer's term of service is from the time of acceptance into
the ministry until the ending of the current school year. All new
applications received after Easter will be accepted and held for
the following term beginning in September and will be commissioned
in October at the Fall Youth Convention.
All
missionaries are on leave during the summer months in regards to
their obligations to NYM and Campus Missions but not to God's calling
and must re-enroll in the program for the following year.
FULL
TIME STATUS ... In
order to be considered a full time missionary and receive recognition
for such, a CM must submit at least 50% of required written reports
to the District Office.
HONORARY
STATUS ... A
CM who turns in no less than 6 reports to the DCM at the District
Office during a term of service.
What
is required for a CMer to re-enroll?
A
CMer must simply notify us of his/her desire to re-enlist for another
school year.
What
training is available for the CM's?
Training
will be provided at conventions, camps, and with support materials
mailed to them. We have a monthly newsletter,
group e-mail address and a CM chat room on the web which are geared
to assist you as a missionary. The local church and youth ministry
are responsible for personal discipleship. Starting this year, we
will have Youth Alive Coordinators who will be able to provide training
and assistance to students who need help starting or revitalizing
their Youth Alive programs at school.
