Training in Cozad
I was able last weekend to go to Cozad, which is about 20 minutes
west of our campgrounds in Lexington. I led a teacher's training
session for sunday school teachers from 3 or 4 different churches
in the area. It was a great time to connect with them and help
develop their teaching ministries.
One of the
things that I mentioned in the training was that it's important
to keep our focus on being obedient to what God has called
us to do as an act of worship, and not get so caught up in the
results. Sometimes, we do everything God has called us to, but
we feel like
a failure because the people don't enjoy our class, we don't see
any real change, hardly anyone shows up, etc. God entrust us with
the process, and He is responsible for the results.
There was one
gentleman that came up to me at the end of the training and thanked
me for those specific words with tears in his eyes.
He had been leading a Wednesday night gathering for a long time
and it was becoming very difficult for him to continue. He had
felt
like a failure, but those words had helped refocus him on his purpose
and gave him meaning again. What an incredible sight, to see this
true servant of God plowing away with ministry in an area that
hasn't been very fulfilling or fun, and finally discovering his
purpose again.
We all must do tasks that aren't that exciting. We all strive
for great things in God's Kingdom while feeling like we aren't
making a difference at times. If we can just keep our focus on
worshipping God through our obedience, then regardless of high
or low times, we can still be at peace with our current situation
in God's will. |
