MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT

Intercultural Ministerial Studies
Omaha, NE – Located in Good News Church
School of Ministry Director: Bill Kruger Sr.

What is the focus of your Ministry?

The Central focus of our ministry is training all nationalities of those “Called of God” in the studies that qualify them to apply for District Credentials. All three study levels are also available to church leaders as well.
Intercultural Ministerial Studies is formatted like a small Bible Institute, into two semesters per year. The classes are 8 am to 5 pm on a Saturday with testing included.

When did it begin?

Intercultural Ministerial Studies began in 2013. I was teaching American Indian College in Arizona and John Miracle, General Presbyter for Intercultural Ministries asked me to come to Nebraska as a M.A. and begin the Berean Studies because he was concerned about trained leadership in Native American Churches and Good News Church generously offered two rooms for the classes.

How can Omaha School of Ministry benefit our Nebraska Ministers and Churches?

First, I believe these studies are valuable as a Ministerial education. The manuals are rich with solid truth and the sacrifice involved in completing these classes is awesome. That’s why we have a graduation…we feel any student who has completed a study level should be honored.
Secondly, it provides qualified educational studies for ministers or leadership studies to build a solid doctrinal foundation in church leaders.
And 3rd, we always point our students toward the Nebraska District if they indicate they are feeling the Call of God, giving them District numbers and Transcript.

UNO CHI ALPHA CAMPUS MINISTRIES TESTIMONY

Samuel Gingerich

During our entire first semester, anytime we had a meeting on campus UNO would mess up our room reservations and change our meeting room last minute. So we would show up and all of a sudden have to change our plans, readjust our set up, and text and call students. It was always a big hassle. The reality of being in ministry to the university campus is that for Chi Alpha it is a privilege and not a right to be on campus, so we always walk a fine line to maintain good relationships – issues like we were having could leave a bad taste in the administrations mouths if handled poorly and with being new on campus, we didn’t know how to resolve this.
During the start of second semester, I was anxious about the same thing continuing to happen. During our first meeting the head of the custodial staff came to find me. I was nervous because I thought we had set up the wrong space and we were going to be asked to leave. However, to my surprise he said this, “I came to find you guys because I have been noticing what has been happening to your meeting schedule and how UNO keeps messing it up. Well I have been here for over 10 years and I know this Chi Alpha group. I wanted to let you know that I am going to talk with them and get this resolved for you so that it doesn’t happen again. And if you ever need help, just find me or one of my staff.” I was so amazed and we thanked the Lord because we were completely unaware of this favor that Chi Alpha had somehow gained with this chief custodian. We never had another scheduling conflict for the rest of the year!
